How it works?

Projects

The projects are started by fans from clubs or organisation members, who wish to offer Mental Health support to their fellow fans.
These projects are started with the simple aim of having a conversation about Mental Health.

You can find out about the currently active projects here.

Why start a project?

There is no point in starting a project if you cannot recognise its need. The requirement for mental health support is now recognised as a need across all of society today.

Conversation

Talking about how you feel is one of the biggest and hardest steps towards resolving a potential issue. Getting that conversation started can be difficult, which is where a project comes in.

People coming together to discuss a like-minded subject such as football, their club or group are what start this conversation. Making people feel comfortable and safe, encourages them to open up and discuss more sensitive subjects.

These conversations may not happen immediately, some will happen on a one-to-one basis, as that is when the other person feels most comfortable. The fact that the service is there, being offered, can make all the difference.

What about everything else?

It takes a lot to run a functional support group. These include registering as a non-profit organisation, getting a bank account, doing accounts, fund-raising and other time-consuming practices which will stop the conversation.

This is where we come in. As a Talking Platform project, you only need to have the conversations.
We will look after all the other aspects of the management side, including having you under our non-profit registration, offering your project a banking facility, fund-raising and arranging services such as Mental Health First Aid training.
